York River District Region 3 UMMen Host a Stop Hunger Now Event
Bethany UMC Hampton
Saturday January 31, 2015
On Saturday, January 24, 2015 our YRDUMMen Region 3 headed by Laity Advocate Ron Aasland raised $2900 to host a "Stop Hunger Now" event. Seventy people (mostly men) from nine UMMen’s fellowships, including Old Church UMC Gloucester, came together at Bethany UMC Hampton and packaged over 10,000 meals for children in third world countries.
Presidents and Pastors,
Thank you so much for the participation of your men at Saturday morning's Stop Hunger Now meal packaging event at Bethany UMC, Hampton. I would also like to thank Bethany UMC for hosting the event. We had around 70 individuals from nine churches (Old Church, Aldersgate, Bethany Hampton, First Fox Hill, First Hampton, Parkview, Phoebus, St. James, and St. Marks UMCs) including the Boy Scouts from Bethany and a few women who wanted to see what this event was all about. These meals will be sent overseas to third world countries to help feed children in schools and orphanages. Each meal that we packaged feeds 6 children so the 10,000 meals that we packaged will put food in the stomachs of underfed and/or malnourished children. So, thank you again for helping to share God's light with the world and letting others know that someone else out there really does care for them.
